Hello! I have been busy for the past few days. A lot of Filipinos are suffering due to Typhoon Ondoy. From where I'm from, everything is normal. But you just can’t help and be affected with what’s happening in your own country. It’s very disturbing; I hope everybody will be okay. I have been thinking since the other night about super-heroes during this trying time. If I had the ability to fly, I might be able to save some people, but then again, there were a lot of people in the Luzon area that has saved lives even without super powers.

All throughout the net, there is this news about Jacque Bermejo who made an ugly comment about the whole situation. I posted something about this on Kawalo Concepts & Designs’ Facebook account but I will not post that here.

I just hope everything will be okay again.

On the lighter side, I had a wonderful meeting with a local Comic Book Club here in Cebu and did some little drawings, meetings like these help me unwind and just relax with some friends. There were also meetings with the Super Debil Robot Comics, a local indie comic book publishing that I am a part of.

I was also hired as consultant of an up and coming travel agency here in Cebu. One reason for agreeing on being a consultant of this travel agency is that they have this great vision of the whole industry.

And oh, I am still late with some of my pages and the revamp sketch for our site at www.kawalodesign.com! Wish me luck!

After monthS of not holding a pencil, I got the chance to do something over the weekend! My drawing hand was literally shaking due to non-practice. Oh man, I need to get rid of this lazy virus!

Announcement about the Cebu Comic Book Creation Seminar

We at Kawalo Concepts & Designs and Super Debil Robot Comics regret to inform you that the Cebu Comic Book Creation Seminar, originally scheduled for July 25, 2009 at Teo-Fel Pension, Cebu City, will be postponed.

Due to the current economic environment, and consequently low turnout of confirmed attendees as of this date, we believe the postponement will be in everyone’s best interest.

Our thrust is to help inspire the Cebu comic book scene to make a comeback. We are very happy that a lot of people have emailed us expressing their interest in the seminar, and that it is only the lack of funds that holds them back from confirming attendance. Since our main goal is to have more join the seminar, learn more about the industry, and ultimately make their own comic books, we have decided to take the time to get more sponsors to support our event.

We humbly request your understanding, and rest assured, we will push through with the seminar within the year. We shall keep you posted on further developments.
