Busy as a bee in the market

Still a very busy week for me. There was this certain project that needed pictures of common rice products. That means I would need to take close up pictures of different small subjects. But there is a big problem; I don’t have a light tent. My solution, make one. I took some steel wires and some left over white cloth and came up with my own version of a light tent.

As you can see, I only have two light sources which forced me to put them inside the light tent instead of outside the light tent. It produced hard light on the subject and didn't had the desired effect that i was hoping for. Oh well, I’m no professional or something so that’s fine I guess.

I took a picture of my phone to check the over-all effect of what I have created.

Hmmmm. Yummy subjects!

Aside from my regular job that has taken most of my time, I have also started collecting Gundam model kits as you can see on my previous post. I bought an RX 78-2 and an RX 78 MKII v2.0 (titans) kits. I was planning to build them later part of this year but my hands got itchy, so Mr. RX 78-2 is being assembled and I am using the table I use for my drawings since I can't afford another table. I test fitted the kit to see how it looks in general and took some pictures for you and for comparisons of the before and after model. The following pictures are taken using my phone so I apologize for the quality.

I am planning to modify and paint this thing but before I do that, I would need to finish the comic pages I promised to a local indie comic book publisher. Before they hang me.

tree dreaming robots

Hi all!

A lot of things have been keeping me away from this work blog. There is this thing called day job, side project, another side project, another other side project, and gundam model kits.

The Day Job : Well, I’m as busy as I can be. Currently designing some lay outs for some book that we will be releasing and it’s all about timber trees! Because of this project, I learned a lot about trees. I even dream about trees. No, not that kind of dreams, you pervert! I just dream about them because I have them on my monitor for a minimum of 8 hours straight! Even when I eat, I feel like I’m eating trees. I even talk trees. And next week, I’ll be dreaming Rivers!

Side Project : Hmmm, this project promises that “We design everything you can imagine” and some people can imagine complicated projects! And that is when everything around you seems to move so fast and you are just stuck on pause.

Another Side Project : a few band members of our local music scene and I decided to meet up. But we did not talk music, we talked about comics. I got excited, and promised an 8 page one shot! And here I am stuck at page 1 minus 1 panel. But I will not give up! I must do this before this guy and this guy kills me! I can do this! Somehow…

Another Other Side Project : This is where we talk about music. But since I still talk trees, nobody can understand me. Check it if you think you have the guts!

Gundam Model Kits : they are cool. They are robots. They take a day and a half to complete even at entry level plastic modeling. I am not as good as this guy and besides, they don’t have the manual on tree-language which makes it complicated for me. Die robots! Die!

half a page inked

Hello all! A lot of things happened this past few days, but nothing has happened yet as far as the pages I'm doing is concerned. I am posting an inked first page for the short story that I will be submitting to Super Debil Robot Comics since I have not done anything yet. I am having troubles with the last panel on this page and I am currently working on the other pages. Super Debil Robot Comics is a new Indie Comic Publishing House that follows the concept of Image Comics minus the high end quality of prints. But in my opinion, this is a good step in promoting Cebu's local comics even if it's in a DIY format. From what I've heard, they will be including a CD of Cebu's local bands, that would also promote our local music! A good deal if you ask me!

If you have inquiries, just shoot them an email!

half a page

Well, what can I say, I've been very busy lately and that's the only reason why I haven't updated this blog for a while. Anyway, over the past few week, I have meet some very nice people and they have decided to let me in to their project. The image above is a page that I am trying to finish. These things are really hard! I'll update this blog as soon as I can.
